How to Stay Productive: A Must

Alright, alright. I know that you are so much more capable than binge watching your favorite Netflix show all day…Fine, maybe I do that too but that will continue NO LONGER. Yes, once in awhile it’s nice to unwind and take a day dedicated to your sweet, loving, comfortable bed and your favorite show, but it’s important to keep ourselves busy and active over these next (several) months. I mean think about it, do you really want to look back and say, Why didn’t I use my time more wisely? Didn’t think so.

My go-to tips & tricks to beat self-isolation:

To put it simply, DO SOMETHING

Deep down, there’s something that you have always wanted to try. Even though this can be scary, this is your chance. For me, it was starting a blog. It could be creating a Youtube channel, working for that six-pack you always dreamed of, or even starting a small business on the side to make some extra cash. Whatever the case may be, make use of this precious time. I can admit it was really hard for me to be motivated in the beginning. I mean sometimes it still seems like there’s nothing to look forward to. Unfortunately some things are just out of our control. It’s what we can control that matters here. Who knows? Maybe this is your passion and being in quarantine just pushed you to do it…Trust me, people will admire your courage to pursue your interests during this rough time. Inspire those around you.

2. FOOD

Ummm hello?? I think we’ve hit the jackpot. I have spent many nights in quarantine just following recipes I found online. From banana bread to thai food to homemade pizza, you name it. Collecting recipes is one of my favorite things to do on my free time. Okay I’m gonna let you in on a secret. This is my absolute favorite mac n cheese recipe and I have used it for YEARS! I personally don’t add the ham, but do whatever you want! Click here for the recipe.

Pro tip: Banana bread is incomplete without chocolate chips and toasted walnuts. Thank me later;)

3. Channel your inner Picasso

Okay so you don’t like cooking. Fine. When is the last time you went in your backyard or balcony, set up a blanket on the ground, blasted your favorite playlist, and let your artistic (or not-so-artistic) abilities flow? Whether it be painting, journaling, photography, DIY’s, seriously ANYTHING! I know it can sound boring and maybe uneventful, but once you get in THE ZONE it’s like there’s no going back. Okay, you can judge me all you want but I was bored out of my MIND one day. I saw a shoe box laying around and I went straight to work. It took me maybe 2-3 hours before I transformed it entirely into a memory box. I absolutely love it and still look at it every day.

4. Fitness

Okay I don’t know about you, but I can’t run 3 miles every day. Just not my thing. But there are small workouts you can do every (or every other) day to stay active and just feel good. I recommend lifting weights. Lifting weights transforms your body, and I have seen the most difference in my own body after lifting. I can also make another blog post about my workout routine. I’m no professional athlete, but working out can definitely be fun if you make it fun. Exercise is also essential for your physical and mental health. I haven’t had a single time where I regretted working out afterwards! It is a natural confidence booster, but you look amazing regardless.

5. Make a plan

Wake up and write out a schedule for yourself. Make yourself busy. Try to limit phone use…I know I am pushing it on that one, but the keyword here is try. Try to complete everything on your list before setting time for Instagram and Snapchat. Maybe you have a ton of homework you have been putting off. Maybe your room is a complete disaster because you haven’t picked up your dirty clothes in weeks. And your dog? When’s the last time you took him/her on a walk? This needs to change. After everything on your schedule is done, reward yourself with some free time. Trust me, it will feel more well-deserved.

6. Knowledge is power.

Just because we have shifted to online school doesn’t mean you can just turn your brain off. How do you build a good credit score? Have you pushed off getting your driver’s permit? What are the steps you need to take to plan out your future? What are the serious risks of contracting COVID? These are all valid questions. The point here is that we need to keep learning. Sure, we don’t have to study as hard or feel as pressured to finish an assignment but we also can’t just watch TikToks all day. What is the point in doing that?

7. Six feet apart.

It’s so easy to feel alone during this hard time. Reach out to your friends and family and check up on them. FaceTime them, or just take 10 minutes to call and see what they are up to. If you are feeling down, anxious, or alone, let somebody know. Your feelings are completely valid and there is always somebody to help. If you feel like you need somebody, please use the form and contact me. Even if it’s anonymous. I promise you there is light at the end of the tunnel. This is all temporary.

We are in this together. Let’s tackle this quarantine;))

You matter. Never forget that!

With Love, xoxo
